California State Representatives

Coastal California State Representative - George Rehmet

George was originally state representative from 1999 to 2004 and has been the current state representative since 2008. He is the only state representative to be awarded Outstanding RRCA State Representative of the Year twice for 2001 and 2009. He was awarded for being editor for Best Newsletter for Pamakid Runners’ Soonar Soundings for 2003. George was the director for the 2009 RRCA National Convention in San Francisco. George has been running since 1981 and has raced from 400 meters to 12- and 24-hour races. He is a teacher and cross country coach at a juvenile detention camp and at a community school for at-risk youth. He is the only person to have done over 100 swims to or from Alcatraz island (with most swims done without a wetsuit in the chilly bay waters) and run over 100 marathons and ultras. He has served as volunteer, board member, and race director for his running clubs. During June, 2014 and working with the US Olympic Committee, George was the meet director the US National Track and Field Paralympic Championship. In addition, George is the chairperson for the Para Athletes Committee for the Pacific Association of USA Track & Field.

Eastern California State Representative - Simone Adair

Simone lives in the thriving art district of Jingletown, an industrial section of Oakland. After serving in the U.S. Coast Guard as a photographer, she attended the Miami School of Art. To all of her activities, she brings a passion for health and wellness. As a disabled veteran, she discovered first-hand the benefits of an active lifestyle. This led to signing up for a 5K, but she soon discovered longer was better and was doing half marathons every chance she could. She leads a local walking group called the Alameda Alleycats and is a proud member of the East Bay Front Runners & Walkers.
