Michael has been running since 2005. He has served as Vice President (2010-2011) and President (2014-2015) of his home club the Richmond Road Runners Club (RRRC). He's been involved with race operations as a timer and lead race setup volunteer. Michael also has been a volunteer coach for the Richmond Sports Backers Marathon Training Team (2007-2014) and formed the RRRC's New Runners Program which kicked off in 2015. In 2016, Michael was honored as the RRRC Club President of the year at the Dallas RRCA Convention.
During his time as RRRC Club President, Michael led a team of club members who created of the club's first strategic plan and activated committees in Finance and Operations to evaluate/establish club financial policies and begin a review of the club's race portfolio (17 race events annually).
