Notah Begay III Foundation Seeks Promising Grant Program Requests

The Notah Begay III Foundation (NB3F)"�s national program, Native Strong: Healthy Kids, Healthy Futures is pleased to announce its 2015 "�Seeds of Native Health' Promising Program Grant Request For Proposals (RFP). Thanks to the generous support of the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC) and their recently launched national campaign, "�Seeds of Native Health', the NB3F will provide needed investment to tribes and native organizations working to improve nutrition and access to healthy foods for their children and communities. The purpose of the 2015 Seeds of Native Health Promising Program Grant is to: 1. Strengthen existing programs focused on childhood obesity and type 2 diabetes prevention through healthy nutrition and access to healthy foods; 2. Assist communities and organizations in building their capacity to evaluate their programming and; 3. Assist communities and organizations in building their capacity to implement policy change Grants will be awarded up to $40,000 each. For this particular grant cycle, applications will be accepted from throughout the U.S. However, preference will be given to applicants located in the following areas: Wisconsin, Minnesota, North and South Dakota. Organizations eligible to apply include U.S. based Native American-controlled nonprofits 501(c)(3), federally or state recognized tribal governments or programs, or Native American community-based groups with a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor. Schools are not eligible to apply unless they have 501(c)(3) status. For a list of current Promising Program grantees and a description of their programs please click here.
