Convention Registration Increase Moved to Feb 17

Registration Increase Deadline Moved to February 17.

Convention Director George Rehmet moved the registration $25 fee increase to February 17 due to the RRCA winners just recently announced a couple of days ago. George commented, “We’re hopeful that the winners will bring their friends and fellow runners. So we decided to delay the fee increase one last time in order to encourage people to come to the convention.” Registration can be found at http://www.rrcaconvention.org.

The March 1 date for another $25 fee increase will still remain in effect.

Seminars Updated

George reported that seminars are for the most part finalized. Compared to the last year’s convention, there are 8 more seminars. Seminar notes and presentations will be CD’s which will be given to attendees. Some new seminars are:

• Blue Planet Run - a relay around the world to promote awareness of lack of water in the world.
• Advanced and Basic Trail Running presented by Nancy Hobbs, director of the American Trail Running Association (Nancy will accompany attendees who sign up for running on the infamous Dipsea Trail).
• How to Fix Your Feet by author John Vonhof
• Green Your Race Panel moderated by Jeff Darman
• Course Measurement by Duane Russell of Racemeasure (plus a hands-on course for additional fee)

Other Surprises

Thanks to numerous sponsors, the traditional goody bag will be fuller than in previous conventions. George added that the convention is close to adding another guest runner. George hinted that this runner was a star at the 2008 Olympic trials. Other pleasant surprises:

• Convention runs will take attendees to the most famous and scenic parts of the city.
• The expo will be filled with vendors for various races and training equipment.
• An awards banquet that will be truly entertaining.
• Watch for an unusual art piece to celebrate the sport of running.
• Finally, the host clubs will introduce a new tradition for the next 50 years of RRCA conventions.
