Apr 21 RRCA Announces New Connecticut State Rep
The RRCA is pleased to welcome Art Byram as the new State Representative for Connecticut. Art started running in 2002 after watching a friend run the NYC Marathon. He quickly sought out the advice, camaraderie, and inspiration of RRCA clubs, running with Essex Running Club in NJ, before moving to CT in 2003.Soon after his arrival in CT he started running with the Silk City Striders, of Manchester Road Race fame. Eventually he took on the office of Treasurer, and is currently the club’s Vice President. He also was a founding member of RRCA’s newest CT Running club, The Glastonbury River Runners, as well as a member of Hartford Track Club. Art has also joined forces with Team Supreme, “The ‘Elite’ Endurance Racing Team of Glastonbury”, a tight knit group of competitive, good humored, fathers. “Although Team Supreme is fiercely competitive at local races, we are not above playing pranks, taunting each other, and devising outlandish contests to keep our training fun” claims Art. Art brings with him a strong desire to help clubs and individuals achieve their goals. As an RRCA Certified Coach, Art has coached Hartford Marathon advanced training groups, The Iron Horse Half Marathon group as well as serving as a marathon pace group leader. Graduating with a B.S. in Business from Rutgers University, Art works as an elevator Modernization Sales Manager for KONE. His triathelete wife Peggy, divides her time between working for The Hartford Marathon Foundation, and acting as a “lion tamer” with their two boys ages 8 and 11. ###
