The Austin Runners Club announces the 34th annual Decker Challenge presented by Rogue Running on December 9. This challenging race of rolling hills and unpredictable weather has earned a reputation of one of the toughest races in Texas.
Over 34 years, the Decker Challenge has changed distances, but has settled on the 13.1 mile distance, closely following a traditional training run for the famed UT cross-country team.
A feared and famous part of the annual Distance Challenge, this year’s race adheres to its traditional roots by way of its route and time of year. Last year’s race required a cap on registration, and 2012 may see the same. The success of the Austin Fit Distance Challenge has brought a dependable contingent of dedicated runners year after year.
The Decker Challenge is held in conjunction with the Travis County Brown Santa 5K and Kids K.
