Event Information
We are a new, rural, two-country international marathon in a quiet corner of Downeast Maine and New Brunswick. Starting at the West Quoddy Head Lighthouse, the most easterly point in the USA, the gently rolling course offers miles of water and harbor views. Crossing into Canada by way of the FDR Memorial Bridge over the southerly passage of the Atlantic Ocean from the Bay of Fundy and Gulf of Maine into the Passamaquoddy Bay, Cobscook Bay and St. Croix River, the course takes runners through the Roosevelt-Campobello International Park, past the historic Roosevelt Summer cottage and the scenic fishing villages of Welshpool and Wilson's Beach, to turn at the Head Harbour (East Quoddy) Lighthouse at the northern tip of Campobello Island. The course then retraces its steps back across the bridge into the USA to finish along Water Street at the Lost Fishermen's Memorial Park in the heart of Lubec. The race weekend includes a companion 10K, a community breakfast and fun run, a pasta and lobster dinner, and an after-race street party. Locally handcrafted awards go to the top three male and female runners overall. There are also age group awards and finishers medals for the marathon.
