New York City NY
"Will you take the Challenge".
The 14.2 Mile Manhattan Training Run starts at 220th street & Broadway in upper Manhattan and finishes in lower Manhattan near Battery Park with the Statute of Liberty in the distance. (The course is the length of Manhattan). It travels through many different neighborhoods. The first mile is flat, going into the second mile is a hill that is a little over 3/4 of a mile up, the next six miles is gently rolling hills along Riverside Drive. After you leave Riverside Park, you will run on a flat jogging path along the Hudson River to the finish line. Along the way you will see Grants Tomb, Riverside Church, in the distance the Empire State Building,Intrepid Museum (an Aircraft Carrier housing the Space Shuttle) and just before the finish line, you will pass "Ground Zero" and the "Freedom Tower". It's a great way to sightsee New York City. For your entry fee you will receive "lots of "Goodies". Last year the participants received a long sleeve t-shirt, 18 ounce ceramic mug, cap, bag, finisher certificate, and a Olympic Style Finishers medal. "Be the first on your block to run the length of Manhattan." If you are training for a Fall marathon, you can't pass this run up. "THIS IS NOT A RACE, JUST A GREAT TRAINING RUN".
