New to the XTERRA Trail Run series, the races open the Lake Leatherwood XTERRA Festival weekend. Part of the victorian village of Eureka Springs nestled into the foothills of the Ozark Mountains, historic Lake Leatherwood City Park boasts WPA era structures, a spring fed lake and miles of single track trails over widely varying terrain. 6 Kilometer Trail Run: The 6k event will be run on around historic Lake Leatherwood on mostly single track trails comprised of a mix of smooth hard pack to technical rocky sections. There are several creek crossings that, depending on seasonal weather conditions, may vary from dry to as much as 18 inches deep. 12 Kilometer Trail Run: The 12k event will be run on a course over the Twin Knobs, Lost Ridge and Hyde Hollow trails then around historic Lake Leatherwood on mostly single track trails comprised of a mix of smooth hard pack to technical rocky sections. There are several creek crossings that, depending on seasonal weather conditions, may vary from dry to as much as 18 inches deep as well as several steep climbs and descents.
