SweetH20 Sweetheart Half
Feb 15 2014
Lithia Springs GA
Douglas County Rogue Runners
This race course offers 13.1 miles of winding moderately difficult trails in and around the Sweetwater Creek State Park, following the lovely rapids of Sweetwater Creek, and venturing past Civil War-ear textile mill ruins. These trails vary from sandy and flat to hilly to technical. You will pass over a couple of small creeks throughout the run. The conditions for the race can be unpredictable; one year we ran in six inches of snow, while during another we ran through the set of a major motion picture filming at the park (Killing Season with Robert De Niro and John Travolta).
There will be a 3.5 hour time limit for this race. Formal course support will end at 11:30 a.m.
This race is the first of four races in the "Sweetwater Slam" Race Series. The four races include the Sweetheart Half, the SweetH2O 50K in April, the GUTS Hot-to-Trot in August and the Yeti Snakebite 50/50 in September. Those who sign up for all four races by February 15 receive a discount fee ($5 per race) and are eligible for series awards including: Top 3 M/F receive Georgia State Park passes provided by Sweetwater Creek State Park, Hoodies to all complete series finishers and an overall series M/F award. Select the "Sweetwater Slam" option on ultrasignup to register for the series.
