FundraisingOne benefit of RRCA membership is the IRS nonprofit group exemption status. RRCA clubs are finding that sponsors, local governments, banks, etc. are asking for an IRS designation letter that is no more than two years old. To obtain a copy of the RRCA's updated IRS letter, members should email or call 703-525-3890. Nonprofits that operate in and solicit contributions in a state are required, by law, to file charitable solicitation registration forms. Due to fraud and abuse in the nonprofit industry, states. attorneys general are cracking down on nonprofit fundraising. Fines for lack of charitable registration can range from $200-$2000 and up. Information on state charitable registration can be found at http://www.multistatefiling.org .Clubs or events that do not take advantage of the RRCA group exemption status should visit the site to learn more about the topic and ensure compliance for your organization. As the parent organization, the RRCA offers to our members taking advantage of the nonprofit group exemption status the service of filing charitable solicitation registrations in all requiring states. This benefit can be an annual budgetary savings of $25-$200 a year per club per state. The RRCA does not file required federal, state or local tax returns on behalf of member clubs or events. Filing required tax returns are the responsibility of the each member. More information on required tax filings for clubs and events can be found at http://www.IRS.gov. |
