2010 RRCA Renewal Information
Important Changes to the Road Runners Club of America 2010 Membership Process.
Renewal season is here and in order to improve our service to you, we have made some changes to our membership application and renewal process. Moving forward members will renew and join the RRCA membership and access insurance coverage through an automated, on-line form.
There will be NO additional on-line processing fees assessed to join or renew online. This process will expedite the application process and allow us to service our members more efficiently. It will also provide more security to members who choose to pay by credit card, but a payment by check is preferred and saves the RRCA money that can be invested in programs like the Kids Run the Nation fund. To pay by check, simply complete the online form and elect to pay by check. Print a copy of the invoice and mail it along with your check.
To simplify the membership process, we have consolidated the four membership categories into two membership categories, Club Members and Event Members. Please choose the form, either Club or Event that corresponds to your organization then choose either nonprofit or for-profit, depending how your club is classified for tax purposes. Club Members are required to submit a Membership Roster to the RRCA National Office to be used to verify membership numbers and to send your members a copy of Club Running magazine. For the third year in a row, RRCA membership and insurance rates have not increased for 2010. The new online form asks a few additional questions for RRCA club members, however dues are only calculated based on the number of household members in a running club. For events, dues are calculated based on the participants involved in the event. View an outline of the dues and insurance fees.
We are also happy to inform our members that additional coverages have been built into the insurance program at no additional cost. Our general liability insurance remains at $1 million per incident with no cap. Additional $1 million coverage for events needing $2 million or more can be purchased through Star Insurance. The damage to property coverage increased from $250,000 to $500,000 per occurrence. Due to the increased numbers of our members hosting youth programs and events, we have also built in a sexual abuse and molestation (SAM) coverage of $500,000 per occurrence with a cap of $5 million. It is very important that all RRCA members that are managing youth running programs or events adopt a criminal background check for all youth coaches and youth program volunteers. All RRCA club and event members will be required to list their events on the RRCA calendar for proof of insurance purposes for the events your organization hosts during the year. This is similar to the old process of reporting these events on paper, however with the new system it will also populate our calendar and retain the record for the year. It is our sincerest apologies that any information entered into the RRCA calendar prior to this site launch was not transferable to the new system. To add an event later in the year, simply update the calendar with your event and your record will be retained for insurance purposes.
