Nike, Inc. Announces Strategic Management Changes, from, note by Larry Eder

Nike announced strategic changes in their management earlier this afternoon, Pacific time. The press release, found on, announced that Leslie Lane, the VP of Global of Running, was going to become a VP at the Nike foundation. Jayme Martin, a thirteen year veteran of Nike, (most recently in emerging markets), will become the new VP of Global Running.

Nike is the sponsor of USA Track & Field for apparel and footwear. They are also a sponsor of the U.S. Olympic team. It will be interesting to see how Jayme Martin embraces the culture of our sport of running….

NIKE, Inc. Announces Strategic Management Changes

BEAVERTON, Ore. (May 20th, 2010) - NIKE, Inc. (NYSE:NKE) today announced strategic management changes to continue to drive growth and reinforce its commitment to developing management talent around the world.

“Nike is growing by driving deeper consumer connections and expanding market share,” said Charlie Denson, President of the Nike Brand. “Today’s announcement strengthens our global management team and we look forward to their leadership in these key roles.”

Nike is pleased to announce global brand and general management veteran Joaquin Hidalgo as Vice President of Emerging Markets reporting to President of Nike Global Operations, Gary DeStefano. Hidalgo brings over 20 years of Nike experience to the role, and most recently served as Vice President of Global Brand Marketing, where he was instrumental in building and expanding Nike’s brand globally through innovative product launches and highly successful marketing strategies. He previously built and grew Nike’s global football (soccer) business as Vice President of Global Football and also led the Nike Brand in the USA as the Vice President of the USA Brand Management team.
