The Leadership Foundation to Partner with Uptown Five Mile to Support Little Heroes Foundation
September 2, 2011: The Uptown Five Mile is launching a partnership with a uniquely “Dallas” twist: a partnership with Matt Nordgren’s Leadership Foundation. The Uptown Five Mile race is part of the inaugural Dallas 13.1® Marathon.
Matt Nordgren, one of the six fabulous stars of Bravo’s Most Eligible Dallas, founded The Leadership Foundation (TLF) with the goal of empowering young athletes to become the best players they can be. “I was given an immeasurable amount of help as a young, developing athlete,” says Nordgren. “I could never hope to effectively thank all those who helped me, but I’m now fortunate enough to be in the position of being able to help others strive for their goals.”
In partnership with Dallas-based US Road Sports & Entertainment Group (USRS), the company behind the Dallas 13.1® Uptown Five Mile, TLF with offer a truly special VIP experience for all those who register at www.131dallas.com using TLF’s special registration code: TLF2011.
The Leadership Foundation Uptown Five Mile VIP race experience will start with a special “golden bib” for all TLF registrants. All participants will be able to help TLF’s cause by beating the “Leadership Foundation Leader”—a runner wearing a full tuxedo in honor of TLF’s black-tie Leadership Gala. For every runner who beats the tuxedoed runner, a donation will be made to the Little Heroes Foundation. Finally, all the festivities will wrap up with a post-race VIP reception and auction at TLF’s VIP finish line tent.
“I couldn’t be more excited about this partnership,” says Greg Laird, CEO and co-founder of USRS. “Matt is a great guy and has a little bit of that Dallas sizzle and swagger that will make our event even more unique and fun.” The Dallas 13.1® half marathon starts and ends at the brand new AT&T Performing Arts Center after traveling through some of the greatest neighborhoods Dallas offers including: Uptown, Highland Park, the West End, and Downtown. The Leadership Foundation
The Leadership Foundation is committed to giving back to non-profits whose purpose is to empower youth through sports and education. The Foundation’s goal is to provide financial assistance to local charities facing obstacles that are difficult to overcome. The Foundation will provide a platform with which DFW residents may raise and donate money that might have otherwise been financially inefficient to raise in order to continue making a positive difference in this community. The Foundation is proud to partner with The Little Heroes Baseball and Foundation as a 2011 beneficiary.
Little Heroes Baseball and Foundation
Our mission is to provide players with opportunities to receive professional training and to help the player reach their goals of being the best player they can be. The Heroes Foundation is a non-profit, 501(c)3 , initiative providing Dallas inner-city youth the opportunity to participate in team baseball, basketball educational and cultural curriculums, all while building self-confidence.
