Rachel started running on a track in high school, and quickly fell in love with the feeling of running. Even then, she loved the process of training, meeting new people, running in interesting areas, and challenging herself to achieve new goals.
On May 9, 2010, while playing soccer, a scuffle for the ball resulted in a traumatic knee injury. Following surgery a few weeks later, Rachel woke up asking when she could run again. In November of 2011, she was given doctor’s permission to begin running again. Regaining her strength as a runner has been a painful, wonderful, challenging process.
