For most of his adult life, Frank wasn't very interested in a healthy, active lifestyle. After all, it looked like a lot of work! Predictably, a poor diet and a lack of exercise led to obesity and many of it's complications.
Everything changed for Frank in 2013 when he participated in Fort Wayne's Smallest Winner, a local weight loss program. He learned how to take responsibility for his own health through a sound diet, regular exercise and personal accountability. With FWSW's help, he lost 88 pounds in six months!
As part of his weight loss journey, he gradually discovered that he loved to run. It took a little while, but as his weight dropped, his stamina and pace increased, which made running increasingly more enjoyable. He likes a lot of variety in his racing schedule (long/short, road/trail, etc), and is always "shopping" for another big race.
To date, Frank has completed over 175 events, including 22 half marathons, 15 full marathons and 18 ultra marathons.
When he's not running, Frank plays a lot of Ultimate frisbee.
