Jeff is a later in life runner, having started to when he was 48 yrs. old, at the time his oldest son (Kyle) graduated from college. His motivation was two-fold: to get in shape and spend some quality time with his son. Well, that was just 4 yrs. ago, and his life has never been better. What started as just a few 5K’s every weekend or so has eclipsed into running 2– 100 Mile, 10– 50 Mile, countless 50K’s and numerous other race distances, primarily on trails. As an active member of the Pagoda Pacers Athletic Club, he’s been afforded the opportunity to run and train everyday with some of the strongest trail runners on the east coast, and on some of the most spectacular trails. For the last three years, he’s been the Race Director for the Grings Mill 5 & 10 K Run which annually draws over 625 participants and has been one of the longest consecutive races in his area, having now completed its 36th year. One of the most memorable and rewarding times for him as a runner was when his son flew in from Arizona, where he lived at the time, to pace him at the Massanutten Mountain Trails 100 Mile Race in George Washington National Forest, Va. With his son’s help, Jeff finished 29th overall with a time of 27:09:00 and couldn’t have asked for a better pacer. Jeff has a 5K PR of 19:17, 15K of 1:03:37 and 50K of 4:17:00. His running plans for the future include more roads and his first marathon to qualify for Boston.
