Kayla grew up in the Chicago suburbs in a family of Green Bay Packer fans. In 2006 she followed her roots and attended college at MSOE in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She immediately fell in love with the city and eventually moved there permanently following graduation. Kayla first started running in high school on the cross county team. Taking a long hiatus, she was eventually convinced by friends to start running some local 5Ks starting in 2016. Coinciding with a new commitment to living a healthier, more active life, Kayla became a regular runner in 2018 - completing a 5K each month of the year. In 2019, she set her sights higher and completed her first 10K, 10 Mile, and Half Marathon races. Much of her running success can be attributed to her increasing involvement with the local running club, the Badgerland Striders. She became the club’s webmaster in 2019 and stepped up to create a number of virtual challenges in response to the challenges brought on by COVID-19. She currently works for a healthcare system in an administrative role and also as a tour guide for City Tours MKE. She loves spending time with her family, friends, and two very spoiled dogs. Kayla enjoys traveling, baking, and listening to podcasts. She dislikes sports drinks, running on icy sidewalks, and pineapple on pizza.
