Mercy Health Glass City Marathon Nears Sell Out

Toledo, Ohio — March 22, 2023: The Mercy Health Glass City Marathon distance, the 2023 RRCA National Championship event, is approaching sell out capacity this year and will be the largest in its 46 years. With less than 30 spots remaining, organizers expect the headlining event to sell out by week’s end. This popular springtime marathon is scheduled to run on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at the University of Toledo.

Elite athletes are descending on Toledo. As a result of the marathon’s national championship status, and a history of competitive fields, elite athletes are finding their way to Toledo to compete for an Olympic qualifying time. Over one hundred elite athletes round out the marathon and half marathon fields, with expectations of course records dropping again in both the men’s and women’s races.

The Mercy Health Glass City Marathon weekend kicks off with the two-day health and wellness expo held at the newly renovated Glass City Center in Downtown Toledo. It is open to the public and includes 25,000 square feet of exhibitor space; including over forty vendors, official merchandise, and packet pickup for athletes. The expo will take place Friday, April 21 and Saturday, April 22.

In addition to the featured marathon, the weekend includes the Owens Corning Half Marathon, North Star BlueScope 5-Person Relay Marathon, Savage 5K, and the Nationwide Children’s Hospital – Toledo Kids Marathon. Field capacities are still open for the supporting events, but are expected to reach participant capacity soon.

The 46th annual Mercy Health Glass City Marathon is the Toledo Roadrunners Club’s (TRRC) premier springtime event and a USA Track & Field certified course and sanctioned race; the 2023 Road Runners Club of America National Championship Marathon, and an Abbott World Marathon Majors Age Group Qualifier — lead by 2021 Road Race Management Race Director of the Year.

TRRC is a nonprofit club, founded in 1976, and open to anyone with an interest in jogging and/or running, regardless of gender, race, religion, age or ability. Whether you are a fitness jogger, fun runner, competitive runner, or a combination of all three, you are invited to join.
