Minneapolis/St. Paul - Nov. 4, 2014 - Four Team USA Minnesota distance runners - Jon Grey, Jon Peterson, Emily Gordon and Gina Valgoi - will be among the field of international and American elite competitors at the second edition of the EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler on Nov. 9. All four runners are alums of the RRCA's RunPro Camp
, while Grey ('12) Peterson ('14), and Gordon ('14) are all RRCA Roads Scholars
Grey was sixth at the inaugural Pittsburgh 10 Miler last year with a personal best of 47:38. Peterson, who is the two-time winner of the Medtronic TC 10 Mile race held in early October at Twin Cities, has a best in the distance of 48:06.
Gordon and Valgoi, who both joined Team USA Minnesota in September, were third and fourth respectively at the Medtronic TC 10 Mile on Oct. 5 with times of 59:04 and 59:13.
The 2014 event expects to have more than 5,000 participants with the 10-mile road race taking runners through a scenic tour of five historic Pittsburgh neighborhoods and crossing four bridges before finishing downtown. The EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler, sponsored by the EQT Foundation, is the last of three events this year in the Pittsburgh Three Rivers Marathon"�s American Development Program that offers exposure and incentives to America"�s best and upcoming runners.
In addition to competing in the Sunday race, the Team USA Minnesota athletes will participate in an assembly about health and running at McClennen Elementary School Friday morning, Nov. 7. In the afternoon, the runners plus Coach Dennis Barker will go to the Pennsylvania State Cross Country Champion North Allegheny High School to meet and run with the students as part of the Pittsburgh Marathon"�s junior elite program.
