Olympian Jared Ward will be Keynote Speaker at RRCA’s RunPro Camp Dinner


RunPro Camp, an interactive seminar for aspiring professional runners, provides tools and resources for top recent post-collegiate athletes

Jared-Ward-Olympic-TrialsArlington, VA - Jared Ward, 2016 U.S. Olympian, will deliver the keynote address at the 2018 RunPro Camp dinner on Friday, July 20. The RRCA’s RunPro Camp is designed to educate and inform competitive post-collegiate distance runners interested in pursuing a professional running career.  This interactive seminar will be held July 20-21 near the Road Runners Club of America headquarters in Arlington, VA.

Ward, a 29 year-old resident of Layton, UT, ran collegiately at Brigham Young University. At the 2016 Olympic Trials in Los Angeles, he finished third in the Marathon in 2:13:00, securing a spot on the U.S. Olympic team. Later that summer, at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Ward ran a personal best time 2:11:00 in the Marathon, finishing sixth overall and second overall among American men. Ward is also the 2015 USATF running circuit title holder, with victories that year in the USA 20 km, 25 km, and Marathon Championships. He was the 2016 RRCA Road Runner of the Year. 

The goal of RunPro Camp is to provide the information and tools needed for more top-collegiate runners to stay in the sport and pursue a professional running career on the roads, track, trails, or cross country. The camp is a companion to, a website designed to assist promising distance runners looking to take the leap from collegiate to professional running.

RunPro Camp will provide opportunities for runners to meet coaches and athletes from professional training centers; learn about sponsorship opportunities; elite athlete recruitment by races; determine what type of representation (agents) would be best; along with various USATF rules governing professional running, including anti-doping compliance.

RRCA will sponsor travel and lodging grants to qualified runners based on collegiate performances. The RRCA anticipates supporting up to 20 athletes for the two-day RunPro Camp in 2018. Athletes completing NCAA eligibility within the last two years are encouraged to apply by May 31 at
