Road Runners Club of America to Host Its Second In-Person Race Director Certification Course

Course will be held in partnership with Road Race Management’s Race Directors’ Meeting

Arlington, VA – Since 2013, hundreds of race directors have completed the Road Runners Club of America’s online Race Director Certification Course. Developed in partnership with Road Race Management and other industry leaders, the course is designed to provide a baseline of knowledge for anyone that directs road or trail running events.

In conjunction with Road Race Management’s annual Race Directors’ Meeting, the RRCA will offer its second in-person Race Director Certification Course on Thursday, November 7, from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, at the Vinoy Renaissance Hotel in St. Petersburg, FL. Presenters include Phil Stewart and Becky Lambros - Director and Deputy Director of the Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10 Mile; Sean Ryan - Director of the Fall 50 and Co-Director of the Across the Bay 10K; and Jean Knaack - RRCA Executive Director.

Registration for the in-person RRCA Race Director Certification course is an add-on fee for the Road Race Management’s Race Directors’ Meeting and is only available to registered Race Directors’ Meeting attendees. The cost for registration is $995, which includes the course and full registration to the Race Directors’ Meeting. Registration for this in-person course is being managed by Road Race Management as part of the Race Director’s Meeting registration.  The fee includes a copy of the course textbook Organizing Running Events (second edition) by Phil Stewart.  No stand-alone sign-ups for the course will be offered.

Topics covered during the in-person course will mirror the online version and will cover all chapters in the course textbooks. This special in-person course will allow participants to ask questions of the presenters and gain the benefits that come from learning in a classroom environment.  All attendees to the in-person course will be granted access to the online course prior to taking the final exam. Following completion of the course, each participant will be required to take a 100-question exam and receive a passing score of 85% to complete the program.  Additional requirements for completing the certification can be found at:
