MCM50K Registration Opens on February 23
QUANTICO, VA (January 24, 2020) – The Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) has awarded the District of Columbia Ultra Championship to the MCM50K for 2020. The 50-kilometer run will take place during the Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) Weekend on October 25, 2020 along with the MCM10K and the full marathon.
The inaugural MCM50K held in 2019 was the largest ultramarathon in the United States with nearly double the participants of the 2018 record. The course begins in Arlington, VA, between Arlington National Cemetery and the Pentagon and moves throughout the nation’s capital taking participants on a course featuring the country’s most prominent sites and significant landmarks.
“Hosting an RRCA Championship at the nation’s largest ultramarathon is a tremendous honor for the MCM50K in just its second year. The enthusiasm around this event demonstrates how much runners enjoy running with the Marines and the never ending quest to conquer new challenges,” says MCMO Director Rick Nealis.
Registration for the MCM50K opens to the public on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at noon Eastern at www.marinemarathon.com. The MCM50K costs $200 and is eligible to count towards MCM Runners Club status.
The RRCA Championship Event Series is the largest grassroots-organized running series in the U.S. with over 200 races participating that attract nearly 300,000 participants. The designation of the MCM50K as the RRCA District of Columbia Ultra Championship for 2020 means that runners competing in the event will be eligible for not only MCM age group and overall awards, but also RRCA honors.
