Since 1996, the RRCA has awarded over $750,000 in grants in support of elite runners in the U.S. In total, 140 athletes (72 women and 68 men) have received a grant from the RRCA (previously under the name Roads Scholars). The grants go directly to the athletes to help them with their training and racing needs.
Through the success of the RRCA’s RunPro Camp program, athletes that attend camp are eligible to apply for a RunPro grant. Annual grants in the amount of $5,000 will be awarded to up to four RunPro Camp alumni.
RunPro Grant Eligibility Criteria:
- Must attend RunPro Camp. Alumni will be eligible to apply up to four years after attending camp.
- Recently graduated from college with no NCAA eligibility remaining (or be of the same age as recent college grads with a proven record of elite performance);
- Proven record with top performances and elite-level times from track meets and road races between 5K to marathon distance;
- Plans to pursue elite distance running as a career;
- U.S. citizenship;
- Recommendation(s) from a coach/mentor.
If selected, grantees must agree to:
- Help promote RunPro Camp and the RunPro grant fund to donors and the running community at-large through social media posts;
- Attend an RRCA-related event during the 24-month period following the award of the RunPro grant (travel and lodging will be paid by the RRCA or participating event).
- If you have or acquire an agent, it is your responsibility to inform your agent of this obligation. Events may include: RRCA National Convention or RRCA Championship Event. Attendance and choice of events will be mutually agreed upon by the athlete and the RRCA.
The RunPro Grant Application will open in August 2023
