RRCA member running clubs host nearly 10,000 events nationwide each year.  Some of the oldest and largest events in the country were established by RRCA member running clubs.  Hosting club-owned events is a great opportunity to achieve a club’s mission and bring in some funds for club programs, scholarships, and support of charity partners.

Events that are owned and operated by a running club are insured as as part of the overall coverage for the club’s activities.  Meaning, there are no additional insurance or membership fees for club-owned events. Review the “Covered Activities” section in Insurance Services.

All events hosted by RRCA member clubs must be listed on the RRCA Calendar as a record of activity for insurance purposes.  Clubs hosting events may also request additional insured certificates for sponsors and local agencies at no additional cost.

Running clubs providing assistance to other organizations (volunteer recruitment, finish line management, timing services, etc.) for the production of non-owned events MUST NOT list the event as a club owned event during renewals or on the RRCA Calendar.  This transfer of insurance coverage to a third party is strictly is prohibited

If a club is assisting another organization with the production of a non-club managed/owned event, then the partner organization should show proof of insurance to the club by joining the RRCA as an event member.

We recommend all clubs operate club-owned events in accordance with the RRCA Safe Event Guidelines.
